Queued&A:
Lili Caseley

By Jesus Socorro
December 25, 2019
Meet Lili Caseley.

"I’m a singer/songwriter born in London to a French-Portuguese mum. I make pop music with different influences, and I know life is short, so I just wanna try to make people happy and feel good through the music whilst I’m here."

How did you get into music?
I have always written since I was little, I had a natural inclination. I started being in school musicals, then gospel choir, then a hip hop group, a jazz band, and then started my own project, which leads me here now.

What is the story or inspiration behind your latest single, “Faded Love?”

It uses the metaphor of not feeling satisfied within a relationship and that need of wanting something extra. A “drug”is the thing the person needs as the conventional relationship never feels like enough. Dysfunctional!

Can we expect a debut EP anytime soon? What can you tell us about any upcoming project?

Yes, I’d definitely love to release an EP. I’ve got a name for it: Bloodline Rodrigues, in honor of my Portuguese family who have always nurtured my faith. I reckon one more single, then the EP, but let’s see what happens.

What are your plans as an artist for 2021?
Build my online music discography, build my audience, and write more music.

How has the global pandemic affected your artistry?

Not performing live is the main thing. Sessions have continued – when permitted – and releasing music online has not been affected at all. It’s been useful to hone in on the writing and have less distractions. I know how badly so many people in the music world have been affected by live shows not being around, though. It’s worrying.

Talk to me about your creative process. What is your typical process for creating a song, from beginning to end?

It really depends from song to song, to be honest. Sometimes, I write in my yellow room and then bring it to a producer. Other times, we write it from scratch in the studio, and other times I’ll write to a beat I find online. There’s so much amazing talent online to be inspired from!

Where do you hope to see yourself five years from now?

I’d love to have a large audience who enjoy my music, and I’d love to support other artists on tours. I’m excited to work with more songwriters and producers, too. It’s all a journey. LOVE!
